Princi – Italian Bakery London

I’ve been to Princi twice in a week, usually a good sign – but in this case just to make sure it’s was as good as I remembered.  For many years, each time I go to Italy and have lunch in a little cafe that has pastries, sandwiches, pasta of the day etc I’ve thought why not bring the concept to London.  London is indeed fortunate that Alan Yau has added his touch of excellence and brought it to London.  Princi, has a huge selection of pastries and breads, pizzas, salads and some hot food.  I shared a fantastic slice of courgette pizza, some panzanella, buffalo mozzarella salad, chicken and apple salad and some lasagne.  With a couple of beers it came to £30 – pretty historic value for what was great food.

Back to the food, Princi wants to offer good food at great value and thats exactly what it does.  There is no over elaboration, just taking decent ingredients, treating them with respect and serving them up in a nice room at great value.  The only problem is that the size of the room is not going to accomodate demand for seating at peak periods – but perhaps people will get into the groove of eating and leaving.

Given that princi is going to be open from 7am till midnight, I’m planning on popping in for breakfast, checkout the coffee and pastries, but I have no doubt they’ll be great.

Looks like Yau is still the goose that keeps laying golden eggs.
